My Takeaway from the Conference “Regional Assembly on Information Technology Education (RAITE) 2025”

The webinar I attended was “Regional Assembly on Information Technology Education (RAITE) 2025”, organized by the Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators (PSITE) – Central Luzon Region, was held on October 17, 2025, at the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology, Sumacab Campus, Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija. With the theme “I.T. Beyond Tomorrow: Shaping the Digital Frontier,” the event gathered I.T. educators, students, and professionals to discuss the latest trends, innovations, and challenges in the field of information technology.

One of the distinguished speakers was Engr. Delaney Ofrecio, Dean of the College of Engineering and Architecture at PHINMA University of Pangasinan, an innovative academic leader who integrates technology and design to inspire future engineers. Another speaker was Dr. Rodolfo C. Raga Jr., Professor at the College of Computer Studies and Engineering at Jose Rizal University, a dedicated educator and IT practitioner committed to bridging academia and industry through research and innovation. The event also featured Dr. Gilbert M. Tumibay, Assistant Professor at SolBridge International School of Business, Woosong University in South Korea, who shared his expertise in business education and international collaboration.

From the session, I learned the in-depth explanation and information about Artificial Intelligence (AI), focusing on the Philippines.  The resource speaker, Dr. Rodolfo C. Raga Jr., explained the statistics of how much our country used generative AI  (46%) and how we are dependent on using AI in our daily lives, such as in Data Science, IT, Marketing & Media, Education, and Design & Art. It shows the negative impacts of over-reliance on AI, its reduced critical thinking, weakened problem-solving, and diminished motivation. Also, it discusses how to build an AI that specializes in our needs, taking full advantage of AI.

My biggest takeaway from this conference is that AI should be just a tool for us, from the presentation quote “AI should be your co-pilot, not your autopilot,” because I believe we people should have a limit on using it and not depend on it.
