My Takeaway from the seminar “4th Regional Cybersecurity Conference 2025”
The event I attended was the “4th Regional Cybersecurity Conference 2025”, organized by the Holy Angel University School of Computing, was held on October 3, 2025, at Holy Angel University, Angeles City, Pampanga. With the theme “CYBER SECURE GENS: Bridging Knowledge, Building Defenders Across All Ages,” the event aimed to enhance awareness and understanding of cybersecurity among participants of all generations. The conference featured a series of plenary topics, including Click Clean: Cyber Hygiene for the Hyperconnected, Human Firewalls: Secure by Design, Data Detox: Controlling What Your Apps Know About You, Patch or Perish: Staying Ahead with Cyber Upkeeps, Cloud Smart: Locking Down What You Share, and Gen Ready: Future Proofing Cyber Defenders. The event provided valuable insights into current cybersecurity practices and preventive measures. The conference was led by Ms. Carisma Caro (Conference Co-chair), Mr. Chris Almocera (Conference Chair), and Dr. Marlon I. Tayag (Dean, School of Computing).
I learned a lot about cybersecurity and how to recognize threats. I gained insight from the perspectives of a hacker and a victim of cyberattacks from various generations. I really like the topic where they teach security and data privacy tips. Such as never trust domain names and HTTPS that may result as fake website, install antivirus software, avoid popups and ads etc.
As BSEMC students in this generation, we all know that we are vulnerable to data breaches. The media we consume presents many threats to us. Overall, I am happy for this seminar; all speakers give us a good discussion about the topic, and the flow of the program is nice also. I would say my big takeaway from the topic was the importance of being responsible and cautious in the digital world. That we should also be responsible and practice safe online habits.
