My Takeaway from the event “The Storytelling of Art: A Guide to Concept Design”
The event titled “The Storytelling
of Art: A Guide to Concept Design” was a live webinar organized by The
Skyrocket Collective and conducted via Google Meet on November 28, 2025, from
4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The session was led by Ms. Candice Torres, who served as
the resource speaker. The webinar focused on the fundamentals of concept design
and how visual storytelling plays an important role in animation, games, and
film.
From our organized webinar, I learned the
importance of concept art in film and game animation. I believe concept art,
from the word “concept,” gives life to the idea in visual form, like, for
example, if you have a written plot, script, or gameplay. In my opinion,
creating concept art is necessary for the client and director to see the vibe
or approach of everything they imagined before the storyboarding She also
shares her process in making concept art, and I am amazed at how she renders
her art.
Also, I learned from Ms. Candice that the use of grayscale in creating art is important to improve your art for the right color theory and shading, and that is my biggest takeaway from the webinar: to really practice drawing in grayscale and then next with the color for overall better composition and position of the art.
